Bill Beard passed away Sunday, November 10, 2019. He was 88.
Bill was in Spring Manor with advanced dementia. He fell then developed pneumonia and sepsis.
Bill served proudly in the Navy for (4) years. He served 50+ years as a law enforcement officer.
Served in the San Francisco Bay area before moving to Nevada County as Police Chief in Nevada City in October of 1978 until May of 1985. Bill served for 21 years as an investigator in the social service dept then for the District Attorney’s Office until 2006 when he retired.
Bill Beard is survived by his wife Joan, of 46 years; his sons, William, Timothy, James and Matthew, Rodney; grandchildren Kristy, Michael, Kevin, Christopher Beard, and Jessica, Rodney Jr., Stephanie, and Christopher Moll; brother Wayne of Fulton Mississippi; and (13) great grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his sons David, and Mark; his mother Desta, father Lester, and sister Ruvene and great granddaughter Aubree.
Bill lived a full life, a proud man, loving husband and father and grandfather.
A (service) Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m., on Wed, November 20, 2019 at Nevada City Elks Lodge on Hwy 49.
