Richard Lewis Vago, son of the late Daniel Joseph Vago and Dorothy Louise Vago (still living) passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2019 in Nevada City, California where he resided. He was 62 years old.
He was born on July 9, 1957 in San Francisco, California. He was raised in South San Francisco and Millbrae, California where he attended and graduated from Mills High School in 1975. He went on to attend Foothill College, Graphic Arts Institute of Northern California and College of San Mateo. He obtained a degree in Computer Graphics and Graphic Design, a certificate in Print Communications and Laser Scanner Assembly, Camera and Offset Press in addition to his Liberal Arts Degree.
His professional experience was in Digital Prepress Assembly, Preflight, Camera, Platemaker, Proofer and Finisher. He became an Honorary Life Member of the Graphics Communications Conference, International Brotherhood of Teamsters in October of 2014. He was a past member of the American Legion in San Mateo, CA.
He had a love of past war history and planes and ships of those eras. He enjoyed going to concerts and vising old friends of which he was diligent in keeping in contact with. He loved working at the Mountain Home Ranch in Calistoga, CA owned by relatives for over 100 years. Of the many duties at the ranch his specialty included being a “Short order Cook” and was famous for his “Eggs Benedict.” He loved football and wrestling which he assisted training youths in his younger years.
Richard is survived by his three sisters, Christine Gann of Reno, NV; Susan (David) Wisnia of Grass Valley, CA; niece Kristy and nephew Noah Wisnia; Nancy (Brett) Hudson of Grass Valley, CA; and nieces Jade, Shasta, and Cassidy Hudson.
There will be a celebration of life for Richard at a later date at the “16 Mile House Restaurant,” 448 Broadway, Millbrae, CA.
