Rosario Gomez Cotton, 94, of Colfax, CA, went home to be with Jesus on Dec. 17, 2021 at her home, surrounded by family. Rosie had suffered a stroke & heart attack in August, and came home in Oct. to be cared-for by family with support from Hospice. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was born on Jan. 9, 1927 in Mexico City, D.F. and came to the US in 1955 when she married Robert Cotton. She became a US Citizen in 1961 and lived in the Los Angeles area until the family relocated to Pocatello, Idaho, where Mr. Cotton worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. Rosie had the gift of hospitality and was an incredible cook–she always enjoyed hosting people in her home and preparing homemade Mexican food. She was active in Baptist
churches throughout her married life, serving as a Bed Babies teacher for many years and being involved in Women’s Ministry. She was always very supportive of mission work throughout the world. She was a homemaker, but had worked as a waitress, factory worker, and even started her own restaurant in the 1970’s. When she & her husband retired in 1985, they had a home built in the Colfax/Weimar area. They enjoyed entertaining family & friends on their 5-acre property. She loved Jesus, her family, and everyone who met Rosie loved her! She is survived by two daughters, Yvette (Mark) Rindels, Colfax; Brenda (David) Ashworth, Meridian, ID; Grandchildren: Ryan (Janai) Rindels, Sonoma; Michelle (Riley) Snyder, Carson City, NV; Matthew Rindels, Roseville; Westley (Arielle) Ashworth, Kuna, ID; Tabitha (Craig) Spencer, Kuna, ID. Great-grandchildren: Josiah Scott, Stella Gabrielle, Sophia Ruby, and Scarlett Camille Rindels, all of Sonoma, CA. Rosario was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, brother Ambrosio Gomez, and sister, Rachel Gomez Mendonca. She is also survived by several nephews and nieces.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 11 AM at First Baptist Church of Grass Valley, 1866 Ridge Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to First Baptist Church of Grass Valley. Internment will be at a later date at the Cotton Family Cemetery in Kentucky.
