On August 24th, at 7:00 a.m precisely, with the sun peeking in the bedroom window and the sounds of his waterfall in the background, Patrick Warholic took his last breath on this earth. Patrick was born to Rose and Andy Warholic, in Charleroi, Pennsylvania on August 12, 1943. Patrick lived in Pennsylvania and graduated from Donora Senior High School.

Patrick went on to study Marketing and Electrical Engineering at Fenn College, now Cleveland State University in Ohio. While living in the Cleveland area and working as a ski instructor, Patrick met a beautiful schoolteacher, Kathleen Holland. Their marriage of almost 41 years produced “my greatest accomplishments”, daughters Shannon and Heather. He adored his children, bonus children, and grandchildren. Kathleen preceded Patrick in death.

In a chance meeting at a ballroom mixer, Patrick met his current wife, Jan Young. Granted a second chance at love, Patrick and Jan were married in 2014. The next years were filled with building their dream home, traveling, and family.

Always the optimist, his tagline was “make it a good day” and he did, every day and no matter the circumstance. Patrick was a fighter, and no task was too large or too complicated for him to take on. In fact, he was never happier than when he was immersed in a complex project or using his expert negotiating skills to get a good deal for himself or others. One of his favorite sayings was “try you might, don’t you won’t.” Patrick enjoyed helping others and if he could not fix it, it probably could not be fixed!

Always a high achiever, Patrick tried to do his best in every task he took on, from Eagle Scouts to being a top salesperson, a highest-achieving realtor, and a devoted husband and dad. He made it his goal to always be outstanding. A devout Catholic all his life, Patrick achieved the rank of Fourth Degree in the Knights of Columbus.

Patrick had a lifelong desire to learn as much as he could about any topic he came across. He had a ham radio license, a pilot’s license, a well drilling license, and a realtor’s license. He had a lifelong love affair with the outdoors, enjoying canoeing, sailing, mining for gold, fishing, skiing, hiking, backpacking, bike riding, duck hunting, and travel.

He is survived by his wife Jan, daughters Shannon (Dave) and Heather (Joe), his grandchildren and brothers and sisters, and a large extended family of in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Andy and Rose Warholic and his wife Kathy. Our lives are all richer for having known him.

A memorial service will be held on September 16, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church, 235 Chapel Street, Grass Valley. There will be a reception in the church hall immediately following the service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (themmrf.org or 203-229-0464)
