Robert “Bob” Thomas was born in Grass Valley to Gene and Wilma Thomas. He was a Grass Valley native and represented the third generation born in Nevada County. He was 81 years old.
Bob graduated from Nevada Union High School in 1959, and he was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a dedicated employee for the County of Nevada, where he worked for more than 25 years as a Building Inspector.
Bob loved the outdoors, family gatherings, spending time at his cabin, and hunting. He was a long-time member of the Grass Valley Sportsmen’s Club.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Chris, of Grass Valley; his daughter Jerri and his son Scott, both of Nevada City; his stepchildren Wendy Oaks (Bill) of El Dorado Hills, Ed Scofield (Jill) of Granite Bay, Nicki Hodge (Chris) of Grass Valley; his sister Patty Tower (Hugh) of Grass Valley; his niece Katy Hulse (Rob) of Grass Valley; and his six grandchildren – John, Alyssa, Elena, Jordan, Colt and Charlie.
There will be a private celebration of Bob’s life at a later date.
Bob was an amazing husband, dad, and grandpa and made this world a better place. He will be greatly missed by his family and all those who knew him.
