Evan Smith
Evan James Smith passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at home. He was 35.
A memorial service will take place Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
Evan was born on December 19, 1986, in Concord, CA. He grew up in Pleasant Hill, CA one of two boys of Russell and Shelli (Wengler) Smith. He attended Pleasant Hill Elementary, Pleasant Hill Middle School and Prospect High School. He loved all things adventure, and art, and spent his adult life exhibiting original pieces at festivals near and far. Evan married his soul mate, Marina Vladimirovna Avdeeva in 2015.
He loved crystal mining, traveling, dancing, making art, watching movies and snowboarding. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved fishing, dirt biking, wake boarding, and hunting. His face was welcome at so many outdoor festivals where he was among friends.
Evan’s love for others and spirit of adventure was admired by all. He made beautiful art which he shared among a vibrant community of creatives. He was passionate about animals, especially cats! Rarely has a soul loved so fiercely and loyally.
He is survived by his wife, Marina Smith; parents Russell and Shelli Smith; his maternal grandmother, Dolores Campbell Wengler; and his brother Stephan Smith and family.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Donald Wengler; and by his paternal grandparents Don and Karen Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family would love donations to be sent to Sammie’s Friends in Grass Valley.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary.
