William Charles Jasper AKA “The Smartsville Dog Whisperer” passed away on Dec. 12, 2022. He was known as a true character to all who know him.
Always ready to tell a story and offer his advice. Born in Willits, CA on March 12th, 1952. He grew up in Laytonville, Bran
scomb area, living in a small dirt floor cabin with his mother near the BenMast mill in his early days. Later in the Santa Rosa area going to high school and Santa Rosa Junior College where he excelled in wrestling and the JC football team. Later on the softball team “The Woodys” when he worked at Optical Coating Lab Inc. (OCLI).
At OCLI he learned to weld and became an accomplished “fabrication mechanic”. He was the hardest worker I know. Whatever he did be out his whole heart into it. We would all receive his lectures, whether we asked for them or not, being the philosopher he was. He moved to Smartsville with his family in 1989; where he resided for 33 years.
He is survived by his wife Julie of 40 years; his beautiful, strong daughter Erin Marie; daughter-in-law Rachel, and his four precious grandchildren Aurora, William, Waren, and Wyles.
He was preceded in death by his mother Edna Lee, beloved brother Henry, and his amazing son Travis, and all the dogs.
We will all miss you so much Pop Pop, Grandpa, “Grampasaurus”. Please rest in love.
We will have a memorial potluck at the Nevada County Horsemen’s at a later date.
