Leilani Hollingshead

Leilani Asonia Hollingshead passed away on January 31st, 2023 in Grass Valley, Ca. She was 72.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, at Sierra Memorial Lawn Cemetery. A reception will follow at the LDS Church 615 Hollow Way, Nevada City, Ca 95959.

She was born on December 29, 1950 in Honolulu, Hawaii to parents James and Marcene Loveall. Leilani was married for eternity to Richard Hollingshead. Leilani was a CNA and Home Health Aide where she supported individuals with developmental disabilities for over 25 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints- where she loved teaching the children and leading the music.

Leilani loved to garden and play with farm animals, make beautiful embroidery quilts, sew, crochet, bake, watch Hallmark Christmas movies and decorate for Christmas. She loved having her family around her. As a mother of six children, she spent much of her life participating in youth sports. She was a coach, team mother, scorekeeper, and most of all- cheerleader. When her children were young, she also was a 4-H leader, cub scout leader, and a room mother in her children’s schools.

Leilani was a cherished mother of six, grandmother of 22, and great grandmother of 12. She was creative, warm, loving, opened her home to anyone that needed, and she will be lovingly missed by all.

She is survived by her children, Shanalee Hollingshead of Coolin, Id, Sheila Raiche of Grass Valley, Ca, Valerie Nix of Grass Valley, Ca, Eileen Hartley of Adams, Ma, Richard Hollingshead of Grass Valley, Ca, Ronald J. Hollingshead of Madras, Or.; sisters Judith Meserth, Dannielle West, Laurcene Isenberg, Melanie Compton, and Jamie DeVault; 22 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hollingshead; mother, Marcene Loveall; father, James Loveall; and sister, Jacqueline Urteaga.
