Janet Vee Starr

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven:
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to love, and a time to hate; A time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted
(Ecclesiastes).”

Janet Starr was always quick to a laugh or a giggle. She could command a room with her never-ending curiosity, playful energy, and bottomless ability as a conversationalist. If you found yourself stuck on a desert island with Janet, you might need earplugs to sleep, but you sure wouldn’t lack for entertainment.

Janet was born on January 2, 1952, to Dean and Ilda Starr, in Oakland, CA, and was raised in San Leandro, CA.

Graveside services will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Sierra Memorial Lawn in Nevada City, CA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her eldest siblings, Michael, and Judy. Upon her passing on March 9, 2023, Janet is survived by her two sons, Jason Lujan and Justin Gambotto, her baby sister, Linda Richey, and her many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Taz.

The Starr family dinner table in heaven is a tad fuller and a lot livelier today than it was yesterday.
Rest in peace, you will be loved and missed forever, Janet.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary.
