Patricia Ann (“Patsy,” “Pat”) Davis’ soul went home to be in the arms of the Lord & Savior, “Jesus Christ,” in the
early morning of Thursday March 2, 2023.
Patricia was born April 12, 1934 at St. Mary’s Hospital in San Francisco to the late Honorable Judge Harold Joseph Haley & Gertrude Ursala Haley. She attended St. Raphael’s Parochial School in San Rafael & then 4 years at Dominican High School. She loved being brought up nurtured in the faith & remained close to Jesus Christ throughout her life, as an individual (would have become a nun/entered the convent had life not taken her on another path). After graduating high school she attended Marin Junior College in Kentfield for 2 years & then on to San Jose State where she majored in Business. She was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority at San Jose State where she met her future husband-to-be, Irwin, who was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa Faternity.
Upon completion of her education, she worked as a secretary in the County Clerk’s Office in San Rafael. She then went to San Francisco where she worked at Crocker National Bank as a bookkeeper.
She & Irwin went on to be married on August 18, 1957 at St. Raphael’s Church in San Rafael officiated by Monsignor Daniel McAllister & the reception, held afterwards, was at the Alta Mira Hotel in Sausalito with at least 400 in attendance. They honeymooned at Lake Tahoe. They traveled to Fort Eustis, Virginia where Irwin was stationed in the Army. Pat worked as a secretary to the Hospitals Administrator in Newport News, Virgina. Returning to Burlingame, Ca, as Irwin entered training to become a Flight Engineer for Pan American World Airways, flying both the Pacific & Atlantic Divisions & retiring after 36 years of Meritorious Service in 1991. At one time they resided on the big island of Hawaii for 2 years & loved it.
They moved to San Rafael (Marin County), Ca. had 2 children, Theresa Marie & Mark Christopher, before moving to the beautiful foothills of Grass Valley in 1969. “God’s country” as Grandpa Harold put it, when they visited. Mom made life here full, she entertained us, or, we entertained ourselves (there wasn’t much here back then), got us involved in clubs, activities & made the
house a home. She decorated for every little & big holiday. Loved working in the yard alone or with daddy. Loved making “dozens” of chocolate chip cookies for her son Mark, and was one of the first ones on the football field when he played football & Nevada Union won!
Life revolved around church & family. She loved being a member (& later President) of the Young Ladies Institute of St. Patrick’s Church, modeling in fashion shows as fundraisers (even, as others who modeled, purchased some of the attire & had her oldest granddaughter model, too). She loved participating in events hosted by the ladies & telling about them later. “An infinity of gratitude” to “ALL” at the Cascades of Grass Valley for the love & care she received over the last few years, & HOSPICE OF THE FOOTHILLS for the considerate & consistent care she received over her last few weeks. There are “not” enough words to express our gratitude!!
Mom was preceded in death by beloved family members: parents (the honorable Judge Harold & Gertrude Haley), sister – Carol (“Peach”) Atkinson, son – Mark Christopher Davis, cousin in law – Judge Gary Thomas & husband, Irwin of 66 years of marriage.
A Rosary will take place at 10:00 am Tuesday April 4, 2023 with Mass to follow at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grass Valley. Graveside service will follow at St.
Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery off Rough and Ready Hwy. in Grass Valley.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary.
