Dennis Charles Smith passed away on March 3, 2023, at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital of respiratory failure. He was 72.
There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
Dennis was born April 16, 1950, in Yuba City to Charles and Winabeth Smith. He graduated from Nevada Union High School, class of ’68. He and his brother David had Smith Brothers Construction for many years.
Dennis enjoyed skiing at Squaw Valley and fishing in Sierra City. He always loved music and reading everything, all the time! He had very clear and vivid memories of his childhood on Butler Road to Squirrel Creek Ranch, to Kings Beach where they would boil crawdads on the beach.
If Dennis knew he had a chance to say something publicly, in print, no doubt he would say he loved his family and friends. His friends were dear to him, and you know who you are. He lived a life of stories and laughter. He had a good life.
Dennis is survived by his adoring family, especially his son, Brian Smith, and much-loved granddaughter, Madison. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Nelson and Gladis Covert, and Mark and Fanny Smith, and his brother, David.
