It’s with great sadness that we share the peaceful passing of Naomi J. Hanson. She was 91 years old. Naomi was surrounded by her family, as she joined her Husband in Heaven on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

Naomi was born and raised in Kissimmee, FL. After graduating from high school, Naomi married Richard L. Hanson, Sr. of the United States Air Force. The USAF allowed for life adventures in Florida, Maine, Puerto Rico, New Hampshire and Georgia. Upon her husband’s retirement from the USAF, they settled in Warner Robins, GA and spent many loving years together. After Richard’s passing in 2019, Naomi spent her last three and a-half years living in California with her daughter, Ruthie and husband, Jack.

Naomi had a successful 30 year career with Piggly Wiggly Grocery. She embraced every aspect of the grocery business and created many friendships that spanned years from her love of people. To this day, her family is still amazed at the network of friends she made over the years!

Since she was a young girl, Naomi was a talented piano and organ player. This remained her passion throughout her entire life. Naomi was an active member at Northview United Methodist Church until she relocated to California. Prior to that time, she spent her earlier years with the music ministry at Green Acres Baptist Church. Music remained her passion throughout her life, leading her to play for numerous church services, weddings, celebrations of life and funerals.

Naomi loved her life; especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her great-great granddaughter. The twinkle in her eye and the genuine smile she shared with everyone made each person who met her feel special. She had a true gift of caring that will be missed by all who knew her.

Along with her parents, Naomi is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Richard L. Hanson, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Deborah Hanson and son-in-law, Jim Scarborough.

She is survived by her children: Richard L. Hanson, Jr., Nadine Scarborough, David M. Hanson and Ruthie (Jack) Holden; four granddaughters and one grandson; three great-granddaughters and six grandsons; one great-great-granddaughter.
