Charles Prescott Hindt Jr, a retired mechanical engineer died unexpectedly on March 25, 2023 at the age of 69 at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital in Grass Valley, California.

Born February 6, 1954 in Evansville, Indiana to Charles and Beverley Hindt, Charles — Chuck to most — grew up in Cupertino, CA with his two siblings Phil and Gwen. He served at the Marine Corps Base at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA from 1974-1976, and married his first wife, Ilona Voros, on March 26, 1977. He lived in the San Francisco Bay area until relocating to Grass Valley in 2008.

After Ilona’s passing in 2011, Chuck married long-time family friend Sondra Berryman on March 14, 2014. A devoted father and husband, time with family and his pug Ozzy is what he treasured most. As a Renaissance man he was interested in so many things from archery, 3D photography, computer programming, 3D printing, making art, engineering, music, movies, cruises, road-tripping… he had a genuine interest in the world. He used to say “normal is boring”, and he was anything but normal.

Chuck is survived by his wife Sondra Hindt, his sister Gwen Call, his son Matthew Hindt and daughter-in-law Katie, his daughter Julie Verive and son-in-law John, stepchildren, Rylee Ketcher and son-in-law Philip, Marie Cote and partner Mike, and five grandsons.

A deeply spiritual person, Chuck knew he belonged to God, and his humor, warmth and unwavering support will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
