In Loving Memory of Eleanor Beamer
Eleanor Madeline Beamer, née Berg, a cherished member of our community, passed away on June 10, 2023. She was 81.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 19, at Greenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grass Valley.
Born on May 4, 1942 to Grover and Doris Berg, Eleanor would soon bring a gentle presence of joy to everyone she would meet. She was raised in Grass Valley and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She attended Nevada Union High School, where she was loved by all, and was crowned Homecoming Queen. Her infectious smile and warm personality made her an instant favorite among her peers, and she carried that spirit of kindness and inclusivity throughout her life. A favorite memory of hers during this time was performing at the 1960 Winter Olympics as a member of her school choir. Eleanor graduated that year with high honors as a Salutatorian, and went on to have a career as a Finance Director.
Eleanor was a loving mother to her two sons, Greg and Tom, and her daughter, Tressa. She cherished her role as a mother and embraced the joys and challenges that came with it. Her children were a source of immense pride and joy, and she nurtured them with unwavering love and support. She was also like a second mom to many of their neighborhood friends and teammates, giving generously of her time to welcome friends at her house and support youth baseball, football, and cheerleading teams.
Eleanor was also the most devoted grandma to her seven grandchildren: Cody, Katrina, Brett, Payton, Brent, Michael, and Hailey. She cherished the time she spent with them, creating lasting memories filled with laughter, love, and joy. Even when living far away from them, she loved hearing of their news and communicating via text messages and phone calls. She developed a special bond with each one, unique to their time together and enriched by shared interests. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she truly enjoyed watching them grow and thrive.
In her free time, Eleanor was incredibly skilled in activities that required both intelligence and creativity. She was an artist and enjoyed sketching, painting portraits with oils, toll painting, and creating greeting cards. She generously supported her grandchildren in learning to paint, bringing out canvases and brushes during their visits and educating them as they experimented with different techniques. She also enjoyed crocheting intricate designs of baby blankets for her family, and she donated many baby hats to a local hospital for newborn babies. Eleanor loved puzzles, computer games, and challenging her mind. This enthusiasm spread to her grandchildren as well, and nothing said party at Grammy’s house quite like jigsaw puzzle pieces strewn out on the kitchen table.
Eleanor’s presence will be sorely missed by her loving family, friends, and the countless lives she touched. She is survived by her mother, Doris Berg, who is 103 years old; sisters, Loretta (Sam) Ramey, and Linda (Art) Hall; and her 2nd husband, Burton Beamer. Eleanor has three devoted children, Gregory (Vicki) Lindsey, Thomas (Elizabeth) Lindsey, and Tressa Lindsey-Anderson; loving grandchildren Cody, Katrina, Brett (Megan), Payton, Brent, Hailey, and Michael; beautiful great-grandchildren Stella and Elias; and seven nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved very much. Her memory will forever be held dear in the hearts of those who had the good fortune of knowing her.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her father, Grover Stevenson Berg.
Today, as we bid farewell to Eleanor, let us remember her as the epitome of grace, beauty, intelligence, kindness, and selflessness. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her legacy continue to inspire us all to strive for greatness and spread love and harmony in the world.
Rest in peace, dear Eleanor.
