Henry “Hank” Hammock passed away on July 10, 2023 at home. He was 87.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, July 21, at 11:00 at Hooper & Weaver Mortuary in Nevada City.

Hank was born on October 18, 1935 in Point Cedar, Arkansas to Walter and Nora Hammock. He moved to Grass Valley in 1952 with his family and started a logging business with his father. They had one truck and a team of horses. His family returned to Arkansas in April of 1954, where he proposed to his wife Joyce. They were married on April 9, 1954 and returned to Grass Valley to resume his 53 year career in logging and driving big rigs hauling mail, wood chips timber.

Hank loved to ride motorcycles, snowmobiles, quads and most recently a side by side ATV. He was still going on adventures with a friend his age as well as some younger sport rider enthusiasts on old dirt roads and the Nevada desert. He had a zest for life until the day he died. He will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years Joyce Hammock, daughter Michelle Coe of Sacramento, son Brad Hammock of Grass Valley, grandson Sean Coe of Foresthill, great granddaughter of Foresthill, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He’s preceded in death by his parents, his sister Ruth Shuffied (Dell) of Yuba City, sister Esther Wallace (BJ) of Dierks, Arkansas, sister Alta Dorsey (Leamon) of Amity, Arkansas and sister Bonnie Moule (Tom) of Nevada City.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary.
