Paul Andrew ‘Andy’ Pease was born on May 11, 1951, to parents Paul and Josephine Pease in Berkeley, California. He passed on June 25th, 2023, at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital at 72 years old.

Andy happily lived in Orinda, California for 5 years with his parents, and sister Pat. During that time his brother Bob was added to the family.

In 1956 the family purchased an abandoned farm on 80 acres in Sunshine Valley near Chicago Park, California. The farm consisted of a log cabin built during the Great Depression, a barn, and outbuildings. After two years of weekends spent renovating the property, the family moved there in 1958. Andy grew up learning about hard work by helping with farm chores, caring for farm animals, and helping his mom and dad whenever possible. He had an aptitude for anything electronic and learned to repair radios at an early age. His curiosity about the workings of electronic gadgets sometimes got him into trouble, such as the time he took apart the family’s radio and put it back together.

Andy attended the old 2-room Chicago Park School through the 5th grade. He especially enjoyed the school sponsored hot dog roasts and parties at the school events.

Andy attended Hennessy School through the 8th grade, then continued to Nevada Union High School. He graduated in 1970. His favorite subjects were shop classes, playing clarinet in the band, and singing in the choir. He also played football in his freshman year. Throughout his public-school years, Andy developed many, lifelong friendships.

He studied at Sierra Junior College in Rocklin, California from 1970 to 1973 with emphasis in electronics technology. He also continued his love of music at Sierra. He played clarinet in the symphonic band and sang in the choir.

After junior college Andy studied at IPT School of Electronics in Sacramento, and finished with a certification in stereo, TV, and appliance repair. From the mid-70’s through the early 1980’s he lived in Sacramento and worked at several appliance repair shops.

After his mom passed away in 1981, Andy lived at home to help his dad. He commuted for a while and did appliance repair work from home. Due to his own health issues, Andy stopped doing appliance repair as a business and became a seasonal Salvation Army Bell Ringer. He loved that job and would play music and give holiday hugs to whomever needed one. Unfortunately, his health continued to decline, and he was forced to quit bell ringing. He deeply missed greeting people and giving good cheer at Christmas.

Andy was proud of his accomplishments. Since 1990 he was Honorary Class President of the Nevada Union High School Class of 1970; an honor he took seriously, and with great joy. His mission as President was to guarantee that every class member was invited to every reunion function. To Andy, these get-togethers were the greatest highlights of the year. He published poetry in a yearly volume of poetry in a book series titled “The World of Poetry”. He was proud of getting his letters to the editor, 71 in his lifetime, published locally in The Union newspaper. After his dad passed away, Andy started attending Church. He was baptized at Abundant Life Church, and then became a member of Twin Cities Church. For the last 25 years there, Andy received love and support in every way imaginable.

Andy is survived by his sister Pat (Bob) Prichard; brother Bob (Nancy) Pease; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 10th, 2:00 p.m., at Twin Cities Church, 11726 Rough and Ready Highway, Grass Valley, California. A reception will follow the memorial service at the Church.

The family asks that donations may be made to Nevada County Gold Country Senior Services Meals on Wheels program, or to the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation, Grass Valley, CA.
