Marilyn June Duffy passed away peacefully on Friday, July 28, 2023, at Golden Empire Convalescent and Rehab Center.  She was 94 years old.

Marilyn was born on June 22, 1929, in Long Beach, CA, to William and Dorothy Price.  She was raised in Long Beach and Tracy, CA, where she graduated from high school.  She married Tony A. Souza and had two daughters, Kathy and Dana.  After his death, she moved to Oakland, CA, where she worked as a grocery clerk for Lucky Supermarket and a pharmacy tech for Rex-all drug store.  She met and married former welterweight champion, Jimmy Duffy, better known at the “Oakland Airedale”.  Eventually, they moved to the NC/GV area where she worked for DeMartini Drug Store as a pharmacy tech/cashier until she retired.

In her younger years, she was a member of the Gear Jammers motorcycle club in Tracy, CA.  She was known for her love of music, singing, and playing the spoons!  She loved to bowl and was on a Women’s City League in Grass Valley.  Marilyn was probably best known as a volunteer for the Mount Saint Mary’s Thrift Store and more recently the Salvation Army, where she made many friends.

Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Kathleen A. Souza of Grass Valley and Dana Souza McAdams (Rob) of Loyalton, CA; Grandchildren Erik Shadburne (Rachel) of Windsor, CA, Adriane Shadburne (Bryan) Taylor of Perry, OK, Curtis McAdams of Santa Cruz, CA, Tony McAdams (Megan) of Grass Valley, CA, and Joseph McAdams (Malenda) of Vinton, CA; and 11 Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents William L. Price and Dorothy Beeler, brother William L. Price, Jr., spouse(s) Jimmy Duffy and Tony A. Souza
