LOIS JEANETTE GOODSPEED

Sept. 17, 1923 to Sept. 21, 2023

Jeanette Goodspeed passed away peacefully on Thursday morning September 21, just days after her 100th birthday. Her beloved husband Warren Goodspeed had passed 15 years earlier; she is survived by son Ron and wife Cathryn of La Manzanilla, Mexico; son Dan and wife Fatima of Fairfax, Virginia; grandson Sam, wife Kirsten and great grand-stepson Julian of Auburn, California; grand-daughter Heather and great-grandson Tucker of Sacramento, California; grandson Alexander of Burke, Virginia; and grandson David of Falls Church, Virginia.

Lois Jeanette Tilly was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey on September 17, 1923, the daughter of Percy and Lulu Tilly. Graduating from high school in the early years of WWII, Jeanette attended Centenary Junior College for a two-year degree. She and Warren, returned from serving in the south Pacific, married in December, 1944, and began the semi-nomadic life of military assignments, living in and raising a family in Illinois, New Jersey, Texas, Florida and Virginia. The family settled in Mountain View, California in 1960, with Jeanette wearing many hats over all these years: mother, wife, homemaker, military spouse, church attendee, bookkeeper for Warrens business, employee of the Palo Alto Unified School District, bridge player, grandmother and great-grandmother, and fashion plate. Upon retirement in 1981, she and Warren moved to Grass Valley, living for a decade in a Victorian on South Auburn Street, then moving to their dream home in Alta Sierra. Her final months were at Atria in Grass Valley. Until her last days she never lost her focus or determination, or her love for family and friends.

She will join her beloved Warren in Sierra Memorial Lawn cemetery in Nevada City, California.
