Larue Foster passed away on November 9, 2023 in Grass Valley, Ca. She still lived at home at the ripe old age of 99 1/2.

She was born in Burkburnett, Texas to Emza Curtiss Purser and Bertha Oleta Emery Purser. Her mother died when she was 4 years old and then lived with her grandmother for a few years until her grandmother passed. Then she traveled to different relatives homes with her father (a farm worker) until they ran out of relatives to stay with. When she was 8 years old an aunt, Alice, took her in for the remainder of her childhood through high school. She grew up with her aunt and her husband in Frederick, Oklahoma.

In 1944 she hitched a ride to the Bay Area from Texas with a truck driver to live with her father. This tidbit of information was just found out by her family and has been a shock to all of us and probably anyone who knew her! She found work in a machine shop making parts for the Navy in Oakland, Ca. and there she met her husband, Wilmer. They were married on September 23, 1945, and moved to Grass Valley.

They worked together building their house and running their business, Foster & Son Plumbing. They were blessed with 2 sons, Danny in 1946 and Ronald in 1951.

She enjoyed gardening, her African violets, crocheting and cross stitching. She shared many of these items with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, husband Wilmer in 2009, and daughter in law Verlene in 2008. She leaves behind her sons, Danny and Ronald (Marsha), 5 granddaughters, 11 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

She has requested to be buried with her mother in her family plot in Byers, Texas. No services are planned as per her wishes.
