Lloyd Curtis Chittock, known as Curt, passed away on November 10, 2023 in his home in Rough & Ready, CA at 67 years of age in the care of family members and hospice staff.

Curt was born on August 27, 1956 in Gridley, CA to Lloyd and Wilda Chittock. He attended elementary school in Gridley, CA; high school in Gridley and at Nevada Union High School in Grass Valley, CA; and three years at Sierra College and Sacramento State University. He married his high school sweetheart Debbie Peterson on June 18, 1977.

For over 50 years Curt worked at or owned: Ridge Feed and Supply, Mad Dog Distributing, Ophir Road Feed, The Farm Store, Simply Country and Fodder Works. Many family members and close friends have been employed at these long-time fixtures in the community. Curt is remembered by many as a friendly, talkative businessman, and a gracious supporter of The Nevada County Fair, where he was a multi-year hay bucking champion.

As a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Curt served as a youth group leader, scoutmaster, Bishop and as a full-time missionary with Debbie at the Sixth Crossing/Willie Center in Wyoming.

Curt loved working the land with his tractors, farming, building his corn mazes, restoring old cars and backpacking. He was most often seen in a pearl snap plaid shirt, work boots and Wranglers with a handkerchief in his back pocket.

He is survived by his wife Debra L. Peterson Chittock, daughters Krisha Jones (Richard), Cherie Martin (Eric), Lauren Albert (Eric) and Lesley Jensen (Neil); sons Lloyd Nicholas Chittock (Mindy) and Kyle Curtis Chittock (Jenny); sisters Cassandra Quist, Daphne Gammell, Dyana Strange, Tassoula Pitt, Melinda Downs and Melissa Trauner; and brother Charles M. Chittock. He has 22 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Wilda Chittock.

Donations in Curt’s honor can be made to the Glioblastoma Research Organization (www.gbresearch.org).

Arrangements for his burial are under the care of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.

We would love to have the community join us to honor Curt at a Celebration of Life in May 2024.
