Shirley L. Atkinson passed away peacefully in her daughter’s home on January 10, 2024.
There will be a private family gathering in celebration of her life.
Shirley was born on December 18, 1935, in Grass Valley to Charles and Bernece West. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Richard Atkinson, until his passing in 1998. Shirley worked for the State of California for over 40 years.
Shirley’s family was everything to her – she was always there to help if anyone ever needed it. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially during the holidays.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Donna (Robert) Stafford and Susan (Mike) Newton, six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bernece; her husband Richard, their son Eric, and her brother, Almon West.
She will be missed by all. The best mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother you could ask for.
