July 21, 1939 to January 6,2024
Anselmo Anthony Barrios, fondly known as Tony (84) of Grass Valley California, passed away in his home on January 6, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.
Tony Barrios was born to Jess A. Barrios and Trinidad Barrios on July 21, 1939, in San Luis Obispo. At the age of 14, he moved to San Francisco and worked as a carpenter. In 1956, shortly after his 17th birthday, he joined the army. He later married Sherron Barrios and together they raised a large family. When hard times hit, he cried out to God to help him. God was faithful and gave Tony a true faith. Tony spent much of his time giving to the community. He helped to feed the homeless, cut firewood, and was a servant of the lord. Most importantly, God had given him the love for people in jail. He spent 20 years in the jail ministry.
Tony is survived by his 11 children, 42 grandchildren and great grandchildren, his sister Rita Walker, brother Robert Barrios, and numerous nieces and nephews. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and his brothers Jim and Gilbert Barrios.
We are deeply grateful for the time spent loving and for the life lessons he shared. We will strive to live our lives in a way that reflects his values.
A celebration of life will be held at Higgins Lions Community Center (22490 E Hacienda Drive, Grass Valley, CA) on Saturday, February 10 at 11am.
