Dorothy Estelle Santoyo passed away on March 6, 2024, at home in Rough & Ready, CA. She was 94.
She was born on August 22, 1929, in Oakland, CA to her parents, Sadie and Robert, brother John and sister, Noreen.
She married Paul Ironside, and they had four children, Eileen, Steven, Nick and Dolly, and twenty years later she married Jesse Santoyo and they had a daughter, Kathleen. She had eight grandchildren, Cassie, Jessica, Sitivi, Kevin, Anthony, Jesse, Angelina, and Mo; 21 biological great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was loved by all so much, a strong, loving, fun, adventurous, independent woman, and example, and was always available whenever we needed support of any kind.
Dorothy loved animals. She did pet and house sitting for numerous families in the area, all types such as horses, cows, goats, chickens, pigs, cats and mostly dogs. She had an incredible gift with tame and wild animals, they all trusted and responded so lovingly with her wherever she went in life, and for the past 35 years in this area.
Dorothy, Mom, Grandma, we love you so much, thank you for your love and example we are so blessed that you are ours.
She will be cremated, and the family will spread her ashes, back to the earth.
Until we meet again, We love you!!
We would like to thank Hospice of the Foothills, and their nurses for all their care, and Hooper & Weaver for all their professional care, and support.
