February 15, 1945 to June 16, 2024

Known for his kindness, wit, and creative genius, Penn Valley resident Scott Dana Richins passed away.

Born in San Diego, CA, Scott was raised by his mother Thelma and stepfather Elvin Dean Richins. He attended Roseville High School, lettering in track, tennis, and wrestling, before attending Sierra College.

In 1968, Scott married his first wife, Victoria Ann Bowlin, with whom he had seven children: Tiffany, Scotty, Chad, Noah, Emily, Wallace, and Beau. His career spanned many fields, from ski instructor to musician to custom airbrush painter. He was known for his work in art and music, touring with bands -including The Platters – and his custom car painting.

Scott’s endeavors eventually took him and his young family to Hawaii, where he continued his artistic endeavors and worked at BYU as a furniture supervisor. Returning to California, he opened one of the first electric car factories before transitioning into real estate.

In 1992, Scott married his second wife, Francine Matteson, and adopted son Jesse and had another daughter Michelle. Later Married his third wife, Greta “Kay” Tegan, in 2012.

Throughout his life, Scott was committed to his faith in the Mormon Church. He continued to joyously produce music, write, and create art until his passing. Scott will be missed by his children, grandchildren, and those who were touched by his creative spirit, sense of humor, and his dedication to improving society for all.

The Memorial Service was held July 13th, 2024 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 615 Hollow Way in Nevada City, Ca 95959-3271
