Marge will be remembered for the love she had for her family and close friends. She was the life of the party. Many will remember her laying in the sun, working in her yard, her terry cloth rompers and her laughter, which could be heard through the neighborhood.

Marge Haddy, 99, died in her family home on 12 July 2024 just shy of her 100th birthday.

Marge was born on 8 Aug 1924 in Grass Valley to William Trewin and Grace Webster. Unfortunately, her mother died during childbirth. Her father, an immigrant miner from Cornwall, England in despair, allowed Edward Benney and Susan Donovan to adopt and raise her. Marge was very loved by her parents. Marge was raised in her family home her parents purchased in 1912, which is still the family home 112 years later.

Marge graduated from Grass Valley High School where she became the sole survivor of her 1942 classmates.

Two years later she married Marvin Haddy, a Nevada City, CA native, who she met while working her first job at the Del Oro Theatre in Grass Valley. Marge along with her husband were avid baseball fans, especially during the 40’s and 50’s.

Marge loved cooking amazing family dinners, always sure to make extra for friends. She was a meticulous house wife who took so much pride in her family who she loved unconditionally.

She is survived by her three daughters Nyla, Marla and Shelene. Her six grandchildren, Jimmy (Cindi) and Shanon Osborn, Johnathan Haddy, Sarah Patton (Tim), Nicholas (Bonnie) and Christopher Riley. Ten great-grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters, she was called Grandma by many. She is among five generations of women born in Grass Valley. She will be remembered with love by hundreds as a loving and giving woman.

The family is having a graveside service at 10am on August 8th at Sierra Memorial Lawn Cemetery, 459 Hollow Way in Nevada City, CA. A potluck will follow at the family home on Conaway Ave. in Grass Valley
