Erin Lambert Heinlein, a cherished long-time resident of Grass Valley, California, passed away on July 23, 2024. Born in Dallas, Texas, on January 29, 1950, to Edna May and Ben Heinlein, Erin’s journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and remarkable accomplishments.

Erin attended Wilcox High School in Santa Clara, California, before earning his Bachelor of Science degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and his Master’s degree from Santa Clara University. His career was distinguished by 32 years of outstanding service to General Electric, where his contributions left a lasting impact.

Erin divided his time between his homes in Grass Valley and Monterey. He enjoyed traveling, exploring new restaurants, camping, and RVing. Erin was a passionate gourmet cook who loved experimenting with new recipes and ingredients, often using his mother’s recipe book to create delicious dishes. His famous cherry pie was beloved by all who had the pleasure of tasting it.

Erin had a deep affection for dogs and raised several dogs, each holding a special place in his heart. His most recent companions were two championship standard schnauzers, Flynn and Elle, who brought him great joy and comfort.

Known for his meticulous nature and sharp business acumen, Erin was also celebrated for his charismatic personality. He had a unique ability to draw people in with his warmth and infectious spirit.

Erin was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Ben “Bud” Heinlein and Edward Heinlein, and his sister Theresa Froehlich. He is survived by his partner, Larry Bunker; his brother, Erich Heinlein Sr.; and five nephews and six nieces.

A memorial service to honor Erin’s life will be held at Hooper and Weaver’s Chapel in Nevada City at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024. A private reception will follow at Alexander’s Station Steakhouse. RSVP is requested by Friday, August 9 to Gail at nmassagli@hotmail.com or 408-410-3657.
