Jeanne Abbey passed away in her home September 8, 2024. She was 74.

Jeanne was born on June 24, 1950 in Newport, Rhode Island to Jene and Barbara Leslie. She moved frequently with her Navy Officer family to San Diego, Philippines, Memphis, etc.

She met her husband, Walt, of 53 years in 1969 at San Diego State. She worked as a Recreation Director until 1986 and was a business organizer for physical therapy clinics in Yuba City and Grass Valley. Her own computer education business occupied her in the 1990’s and early 2000’s. She was the key force in the adoption of their wonderful daughter Lesley. She organized the first triathlon in Nevada County at Lake Wildwood in the 1980’s.

She was an excellent athlete, including being tennis captain at San Diego State and six-time Riverside Champ. She also played badminton, soft ball, volleyball, golf and swam. She was a classy, tough competitor.

She also loved mostly smaller animals, wild and domestic. She loved art of all types, museum, and music, particularly classical through 1970’s and achieved a Masters Degree in Music from Arizona State in 2019. She was an excellent fisher woman of all types large and small.

She loved her family of all generations aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and her most recent caregiver Ann Rutter whom probably extended her life 2+ years.

She succumbed after a long battle with an autoimmune blood disorder ITP.

She is survived by her husband Walt Abbey, her 99- year old mother Barbara Ruth Leslie, her sister Barbara Fisher and all of her nieces and nephews.
