Veronica Jones (Brady/Browning) passed away on September 5, 2024, at 65 years old.
Veronica or “Ronnie” as she was known to most, was born on January 23,1959 to William “Bill” and Antoinette “Toni” Browning. Her early years were spent growing up in French Corral. She attended Seven Hills Junior High, then graduated from Nevada Union High School in 1977. At Sierra College Ronnie earned an AA Degree in Accounting. Veronica worked 35-year with the Tahoe National Forest Service retiring in 2014.
In 1978, Veronica married Jeff Brady and welcomed two wonderful daughters (Suzi and Jaclyn). In 1993, Veronica married the love of her life, Bret Jones. She dearly loved her family and was happiest when she was spending time with them. In 2022, she was given a new title of “Nonna” with the arrival of her grandson Cameron. She treasured all her moments playing with him and of course spoiling him.
Veronica played many sports including tennis, basketball, volleyball and softball through and into high school. She was also very active in The Future Farmers of America as well as the Candy Striper program through Sierra Nevada Hospital. After retiring from the Forest Service, she was active in the Penn Valley Chamber of Commerce and was treasurer to Melody Oaks Irrigation Company. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting, reading and especially traveling with her family. She was a great cook who made sure everyone was well fed and taken care of. She is loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother and Nonna!
Ronnie was preceded in death by both of her parents Bill and Toni Browning.
She is survived by her beloved husband Bret Jones, daughters Suzi Brady and Jaclyn Dean and grandson Cameron, brother Tom Browning (Cindy) along with numerous aunts and uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is planned for Monday, September 16, 2024, at 10:00 am. at Hooper & Weaver Mortuary, 459 Hollow Way, Nevada City, CA 95959.
