June 25, 1952 – November 5, 2024

Brady Gay Pryor, 72, passed away at his Grass Valley home on November 5, 2024 after a long illness. He was buried in a green interment on November 13th at Morgan Oaks Eternal Preserve, Lincoln, California.

Brady was born in Seattle, Washington, to Gay Pryor and Alice Tilden Pryor. He grew up in suburban Philadelphia, attending Conestoga High School, where he enjoyed working on the Stage Crew for theater productions. He used those skills for several years to set up musical acts for the Philadelphia Folk Festival and became friends with many performers. In 1969 he spent a year in Buenos Aires, Argentina as an exchange student, where he earned the nickname “el Generoso” (Generous One) from his adoptive family. When he returned to Philadelphia, he attended Temple University.

Brady moved to Grass Valley in 1974, where he cared for his ailing mother and began his career in the trades. As a young man, he was trained by a local electrician who took a chance on a novice. In return, Brady trained young workers in Grass Valley and was well-loved by the construction community, many of whom stepped up to care for him during his illness.

Brady was the owner of Grass Valley Electric and worked as an electrical contractor for nearly forty years. He was known for taking on the big jobs in the community and the small ones for friends. He often “forgot” to issue a bill if the customer was in need.

Brady enjoyed music and reading non-fiction, mainly history and political science. He was also a gourmet cook, preparing extravagant dishes for friends. He often combined both hobbies by reading cookbooks late into the night, all to the benefit of anyone blessed by his meals.

Brady was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sisters Toni Wise (Dale Wise), Shelley Pryor (Marshall Crosby), Marta Vidal and Susana Martínez; nephews Christopher Wise and Graham Wise; and his dear friend Patti Hastert.
