Ona Lage passed away on December 17, 2024, at home in Nevada City, CA, after an 8-year battle with Cancer. She was 66 years old.

Ona was born to Ralph McClanahan and Pauline Wolford, on July 17, 1958, in Grundy, VA. She grew up with her brother, Larry McClanahan; sister, Deb McClanahan. Upon graduating from college at an early age of 20, she made her way to California where she lived the rest of her life and came to call herself a Californian.

She is survived by her son, Chance Lage of Oakland, CA, her Sister, Deb McClanahan of Bristol, TN; and her dedicated husband, Mark Allen of Nevada City, CA.

Ona “never met a stranger”. She could greet someone for the first time and within minutes they inevitably would become long-time friends, laughing all the while with her trademark sense of humor and wit. She was very generous with her time and gifts and also believed that gratitude was the elixir of life.

Ona was incredibly creative in words, ideas, and art. Her favorite was to take something old and make it new again, with Charm. She surrounded herself with beauty and made a business of it called CharmedUs.

Ona had a special spot in her heart for both horses and cats. If you would like to contribute to a cause that Ona was passionate about, please consider sending to: Sammie’s Friends Animal Shelter located in Grass Valley, CA. You can donate on their website: www.sammiesfriends.org and for questions their Phone# is 530 471-5041.

Ona loved the springtime and wanted to be surrounded by her family, friends, and many flowers, so her Celebration of Life memorial will be held at our home Sunday March 30, 2025, in the afternoon. Details to be announced.

Arrangements were under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary.
