July 3, 1942 – February 7, 2025

Mike and his sister Pat were born in Utah, where their father was stationed during WWII. At the close of the war, the family moved to Marin County where their parents, Hugh and Verda McLeran, were born and raised. Growing up, Mike lived in Stinson Beach, Mill Valley, and Tiburon. As a young teen, Mike rode his horse “Candy” through the Marin Hills and often camped overnight with his horse.

In 1960, Mike was in the second graduating class of Redwood High School. As a student at Redwood, he met his future wife, Eileen, at a homecoming dance. Mike attended College of Marin and USF, and then completed Private Pilot training and was hired by an aircraft parts company. As a sales rep, he enjoyed flying to airports in CA, NV, and AZ. After he and Eileen married, they lived in San Rafael where their three sons, Michael, Scott, and Brian, were born. In 1973, the family moved to Nevada City where they lived in their first home on Red Dog Rd. At that time, Mike took a position in airplane sales at Auburn Airport. In 1975, they welcomed their daughter Kerry.

In the mid-1980s, Mike changed course and went to work for Nevada County Behavioral Health, becoming the liaison for staff who worked with clients residing in inpatient facilities. Once retired, Mike became a serious photographer and always had his camera close by. He also enjoyed woodworking, cooking, and traveling with Eileen in their 5th wheel. Mike loved the Nevada desert and he and Eileen made frequent trips to their property in the Buena Vista Valley. Being with family meant a great deal to Mike, whether it was a summer BBQ, a birthday party, or a holiday, those were the times he loved.

Mike was predeceased by his sister Pat, nephew James, parents Hugh and Verda, and grandson Hayden. He is survived by his wife, Eileen, sons Brian, Michael and wife Laura, Scott and wife Jori, and daughter Kerry; grandchildren Abi, Christion, Taylor and husband Johnny, Katie and husband Stephen; great-grandsons Emmett, Hayden, and Colyn; brother-in-law Bob De Angelo, nephews Robert and Michael DeAngelo; brother-in-law Frank Donnelly, nephew Jim Donnelly, sister-in-law Sheila Edlund, nephew Eric Edlund, niece Brynna Edlund, great-nephew Ansel Edlund and great- nieces CiCi and Maisie Edlund.
