October 24, 1948 – December 16, 2024

Syl was known for following his passions closely and earnestly, and when it came to athleticism, there was no middle of the road. After running marathons for the first half of his life, including the Western States; 100 miles in under 24 hours, he switched to long distance biking, after never missing a run in 19.5 years! He always found friends along the way, unofficially known as the Mayor of Lower Colfax, he was truly interested in everyone’s story, and knew everybody, from the UPS driver to his homeless buddy, Bear River Rick. After a few years in the Air Force, he worked at IBM and eventually Visa from which he retired. Syl loved having his family close, and always kept them in his thoughts. He also had a penchant for the unique, and the beautiful, little things in life. It’s impossible to sum up his character in so many words, but he really lived, loved and enjoyed a wonderful life. He had a great ride!
