Mary Jo was born April 22, 1943 in Nevada City, CA to Joseph and Vivian Swartz.
She was raised in Nevada City and graduated from Nevada Union High School in 1961. She went to work for Cal-Trans in 1962 where she worked for 19 years. In 1981 she transferred jobs and started to work with CHP as a senior stenographer in Truckee, CA. Then in 1983, she transitioned to Grass Valley as the Office Manager. She retired in 2007.
On August 31, 1985, she married Dale Bourne and they have been married for 39 years.
Mary Jo was an excellent typist, she loved music and enjoyed singing in the choir at First Baptist Church, Grass Valley, where she was a member for many years.
Mary Jo, was known for being a perfectionist and wanted everything done “just right”. She will be missed by everyone.
Mary Jo is survived by her husband Dale and her sister, Judy DeBenedetto of Grass Valley, as well as three nieces and their eight children.
Mary Jo is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Vivian Swartz.
A Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church, 1866 Ridge Road, Grass Valley, CA on Tuesday, April 8th at 1:15 p.m. All are welcome.
