Mark Lee Roberts, 54, passed away peacefully at his home on August 26, 2020, After a long battle with heart and lung issues. He was born on September 1, 1965, in Los Angeles, CA. The family moved to Nevada City in 1971, where he attended N.C.E., Seven Hills, and in 1983 he graduated from N.U. As a young boy, Mark was into Cub Scouts, and through his school years he was active in soccer, baseball, and football, and later was a champion in arm wrestling. Directly after high school, Mark joined the U.S. Army and served as an M.P. After returning home, he worked at N.I.D. for a brief period before following his father’s footsteps by beginning his own tree business, Mark Roberts Tree Service, serving Nevada County for 30 years. In 2012, Mark began a relationship with God and loved him dearly.

He is survived by his wife Kelly Roberts, mother Sheila Roberts, a brother Curtis (Deborah) Roberts, half-sister Deanna Bonachea, three step-children, a niece, two nephews, and many grandchildren. Numerous friends and neighbors also loved Mark. He was proceeded in death by his father, Freddie Lee (Bud) Roberts.

Mark volunteered with Wildlife Rehabilitation & Release on the raptor team, following his passion for Birds of Prey. Mark enjoyed handling and releasing everything from Eagles to Pygmy owls. He also loved riding motorcycles with his friends, hiking in the high country, and Frank’s pizza.
