Alfred Stanley Nelson III passed away March 21, 2022 at the age of 78.

Alfred (aka Al, Bud, Honey and Buddals) was born in Quincy, MA in 1943 and spent his early years between nearby Lakeville and the family’s summer home in Water Village, NH. After graduating from high school where he lettered in numerous sports, Bud attended Wentworth Institute in Boston, reconnected with former girlfriend and future wife, Sandy, and started a career in the nuclear industry. Eventually Bud and Sandy packed up and headed west where he worked for Reactor Controls and GE Nuclear Division in San Jose, but he never lost his New England accent nor his faith that the Red Sox would beat the Yankees and that Larry Bird would score a three pointer in the final seconds of a game. Bud was a wonderful father to two daughters Karen (Egelston) and Rebecca (Lesley) and a proud grandfather to Samantha, Nathan, Cash and Parker. Upon retirement he finally had time to enjoy golfing, fishing, building sets for local theater productions, volunteering with community service projects, and making new friends while keeping tabs on those he had met throughout the years. Predeceasing him are his son, Drew; brother, Bob; and parents, Jean and Stan. The family will hold a celebration of Bud’s life at a future date and would like to thank the nurses at Sierra Memorial Hospital for their compassion and his many friends who have expressed their condolences in many caring ways.
