Roy Joseph Dunks passed away on February 6, 2023 at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital in Grass Valley, with family by his side. He was 96 years old. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 1st, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Grass Valley Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 12889 Osborne Hill Rd, Grass Valley.
Roy was born on March 13, 1926, in Elgin, Texas to Ruben and Annie Dunks. Roy served his country in the United Sates Army during WWII and went on to work as a building contractor with his own construction company. Roy was married to Alberta Jane Babylon for 67 years and had five children together. Roy loved woodworking and crafts, making birdhouses, toys, and yard decorations. He also enjoyed camping and metal detecting.
Roy is survived by his wife Alberta (Doris) Dunks of Rough and Ready; son Delvin (LeAnne) Dunks of Blue Canyon, son Doug Dunks of Penn Valley, son Rodney Dunks of Rough and Ready, and daughter Rhonda (Robin) Daniels-Sieber of Mifflintown, PA. Roy is also survived by his ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Anne Dunks, brothers Ervin, Charles, and Vernon Dunks, and his son, Darrell Dunks.
