Maureen Adelle (Joseph) Young passed away October 13, 2022, at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, due to complications of cancer, she was 79 years young.

Maureen was born in Oakland, CA on March 22, 1943, to Warren Vincent Joseph and Blanche Adella (Dildine) Joseph. Maureen was the youngest, Warren Carlos Joseph, was her brother and friend, messaging each other almost every day.

Maureen married Doug Young on October 1, 1960; they had just celebrated 62 years of marriage. Maureen and Doug lived in Concord, CA for many years, moving to Grass Valley in 1981 to open a hobby store called The Hobby Barn. She also worked at Hennessy School as an aid in the classroom with her friend Trisha. Maureen retired in the early 2000’s to help her father care for her mother, then she and Doug cared for her father until his death.

Maureen is survived by her husband, Doug and their three children, Wayne (Lynnette) Young, Jerry (Vikie) Young and Tamara (Gerald) Davenport and her grandchildren, Aria (Stephanie) Davenport, Reid Young, Kyrie Davenport, Ashley Young and Mathew Young. Maureen is also survived by her brother, Warren and his children, Dan & Sally, Steve & June, Craig & Loreen, Rob & Robin and Scott & Barbara and their families.

Maureen had many friends, Judy Hutting, Audrey Ross, Patty Raines, Barbara Ralphs, Barbara Huntley, Kit Miller, Carolyn Johnson, Tricia Spanier, and many others that she had weekly phone calls with and spent countless hours messaging.

Maureen was also “mom” to several of her children’s friends: Jeff, Phil, Linda, Kelly, Carol and was a friend to: Becky, Angela, Rob, Susan, Margie and Ken, and many more.
