Elliott Hirsch Brilliant passed away peacefully on January 19, 2023, after a valiant struggle with Alzheimer ‘s.

Born and reared in St. Louis, Missouri by his parents David and Anna Brilliant, Elliott graduated from Washington University and then Yale Law School. Elliott spent over 60 years working in tax and accounting, primarily as a partner with Ernst & Young.

Elliott is survived by his wife Carolyn (Carry) Canady and two much loved stepchildren, Jennifer Tippett and Phillip Ho.

Besides enjoying dogs, golf, and traveling, Elliott was an active community member. He served on the boards of the Honolulu Symphony, the Hawaii Opera Theatre, the Vermont Mozart Festival and the Center for the Arts. One of his greatest pleasures was being a member of the “Monkeys”, a group of good friends who do community service projects for various local non-profit organizations.

Elliott was much loved and will be missed by those whose lives he touched. A Celebration of Life is planned for March. If considering a memorial donation, some of Elliott’s favorite local charities include Sammie’s Friends, Bright Futures for Youth, and Center for the Arts.
