August 3, 1945 to February 6, 2024
Carol Irene Caudle (formerly Cranston) age 78, from Nevada City, CA, gently departed this life in the arms of her daughter, on February 6, 2024 after a long 2 1/2-year battle with cancer.
Born in Burlington, Iowa on August 3, 1945, Carol grew up in San Lorenzo, CA where she attended Arroyo High School, graduating class of 1963. She furthered her education at the University of California, Davis. In 1969 Carol moved to Nevada City, where she resided for over 54 years. Carol’s life was one of commitment and service, as evidenced by her 23 years with the Tahoe National Forest and 15 years at Twin Cities Church where she also worshiped. Carol was a loving, smart, and witty individual with a great sense of humor.
One of Carol’s passions was dancing. She was one of the founders of the Tommyknocker Cloggers in 1987 and shared the joy of dance for decades. Up until her illness she continued to dance and assist with classes, leaving a lasting impact on Nevada County and the hearts of many. She also enjoyed taking leisurely walks, the tranquility of kayaking, gardening, and spending time down at Pioneer Park with her dog and making good friends along the way.
Family was the cornerstone of Carol’s life. She is survived by a loving family and cherished by her daughter Kelly Fry- Dremann (Chad), and son Cord Cranston (Sarah), brother Gregory Cranston (Jan), nephew John Cranston (Lara), stepsons David Caudle (Shelly), Steve Caudle (Linda), grandchildren Austin Cranston (Jacklynn), Brooke Sanchez (Donovan), Gray Cranston, Caitlyn Fry, Trevor Fry, Aaron Fry, Cameron Fry, Rachel Portugal (Irvin), Emily Williamse (Reese), Dillion and Laney Caudle, and Amber and Hallie Caudle, and numerous great grandchildren.
Carol’s passage into the next life reunites her with her adoring father James Vardon Cranston, mother E. Irene Cranston, and her beloved husband of 26 years, Loyd Jackson Caudle Jr.
A service to honor Carol’s memory will be held at Twin Cities Church in Grass Valley, CA, on March 22, 2024 at 1:00 PM. The family extends a warm invitation to friends and acquaintances to join in the celebration of her life.
Heartfelt thanks to Moms doctors and nurses, Hospice of the Foothills, Hooper and Weaver Funeral Home of Nevada City, the family expresses gratitude for their compassionate support during this time, and the enduring and continued support from family and friends.
