December 15, 1949 – April 14, 2024
Billy passed away at his home in Nevada City.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Smart, and sister Vicki Middleworth as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was born in San Francisco, and moved to Nevada City when he was 15.
He was a well-known musician throughout Nevada County. During his long career, he play with many bands, including Carrie Nation, Absalom, Buck Love and the Humperheads, Bob Woods Trio, Chuck Wagon and the Wheels, and Red Dog along with many others. He also played bass and sang on several recordings with bands and artists over the years. Billy had a warm and outgoing personality with a wry sense of humor.
His loss will be felt not only by his family but by his many friends that he enjoyed socializing with around downtown Nevada City.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 14, at 3:00 p.m. at McGee’s in Nevada City
