October 7, 1959 to June 2, 2024
Matthew Richard Waldron, October 7, 1959 – June 2, 2024, passed away in Grass Valley unexpectedly after a recent hospitalization.
Matt was born in Gilroy, California to Ronayne Waldron and Anne (Daufeldt) Waldron. He spent his first two years in Morgan Hill until the family relocated to Sonoma in 1961. He attended grade school and high school in Sonoma where he excelled in many sports, especially basketball. His 6’6′ height and 38 inch vertical leap propelled him through Sonoma Valley High and into a basketball scholarship at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, a pre-season stint as a Golden State Warrior and three seasons of professional basketball in Melbourne, Australia.
When he returned to the states, he founded Matt Waldron Electric in Grass Valley and ran the company until the time of his death. Matt was an avid golfer, duck hunter and fisherman, hobbies he enjoyed with family and friends. He lived life to the fullest, true to his larger than life personality and spirit. He will be remembered for his kindness, big smile and accepting nature.
Besides numerous nieces and nephews, Matt is survived by his brothers David, Denis and Daniel (Kathy) Waldron and sisters Collette (Joe) Dacruz, Mary (Mike) Meyer and Eileen Rattan.
The family plans to have a private memorial.
