Eldon Lindsey Cyrus left this earth early in the morning on June 8th where he and Stacey Ward shared their homes and life.
Eldon was 59, born on January 13, 1965 in Santa Monica to Charles and Carole Cyrus. He married Kris Cyrus and together they had Samatha and Kalvin Cyrus. He began working at The Midget Kitchen where he learned to make “proper” pancakes and made perfect to order fried eggs, then he worked at Nevada Irrigation District. Eldon stepped into his entrepreneurial enterprises by beginning his tree services to “To Serve Your Achy Breaky Trees”. Cyrus Tree Service was Grass Valley’s top-rated Arborist in Grass Valley for many years. Providing land clearing, hazardous tree removal, storm damage and an array of fire support services. Most of all, he loved operating his mobile chainsaw repair shop. He would travel to fires near and far to offer support to the fallers on wildland fires. He would repair damaged saws, selling new chain and bars to the guys and gals on the “front line” as he would say. He was affectionately known as Sasquatch by all on the fires. They loved to hear his stories and take his chain sharpening classes that he would conduct. He was an incredible teacher.
Charles, his dad, declared Eldon’s artistic abilities at the age of 3 when he decorated the hallways and walls with crayon art. He was so proud to repeat that the ‘Boy done the walls” and the “Boy” can do anything because he will be and artist. At the same time, Carole, Mom, was looking out the widow holding back from taking them all out and saying, “Boy has to stop!”
The same artistic ability took shape in candle making, wood whittling that later became chain saw artwork that many people proudly purchased. His eye could sculpt the land and his environment with beauty or appreciate the sunset with family, friends or by Stacey’s side on The Cyrus Porch he created.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Carole Cyrus.
His survivors include his partner and wife-to-be Stacey Ward, Samantha with her husband Dan Stafford and son Kalvin Cyrus. He was the proud Papaw of Aiden, Asher, Atticus and Stevie. And his sister Adehl and brother-in-law Allen, with their families.
There will be a Celebration of Life at Calvary Bible Church on July 6th at 2pm. It will be a buffet celebration. The family is creating a memory book with Eldon stories if you want to bring a pre written story to contribute or create at the service
