Kimberly Zwick, devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt who lived an active and joyful life, has passed away at age 59. She died peacefully at home, loved ones at her side, on Saturday, October 19. Her death was the result of the progressive effects of dementia.

Kim always lived her best life—especially over the past two decades with her husband, Andy Bernadett. She was a lifelong learner, always looking to help others and to try new experiences. Life was a vast playground for Kim: She loved music, concerts, and the outdoors.

She loved her church, and helping people in her community. Kim lived by the motto, “Go-See-Do.” She was an athlete who excelled at waterskiing, swimming, basketball and volleyball in her early years — and took up cycling, tennis, fencing, swimming, croquet, and golf later in life.

Kim was born in Richmond, Virginia on December 5, 1964, adopted soon after birth by her parents, Ann and Charles Tyrrell. Kim grew up outside of St. Louis, Missouri in a family with a strong focus on their Christian Science faith. Her family included two younger siblings, sister Tamara, and brother, Jeff. Kim attended Christian Science schools and summer camp, and she and her family spent most summer weekends at Lake of the Ozarks.

Kim attended college in Colorado and Texas, graduating with an Accounting Degree from Texas Tech University. She married Alan Zwick after his graduation from the Air Force Academy, and they traveled to various Air Force assignments, including to Montana where son Tyler was born in 1988, and to Lubbock, Texas where daughter Jordan was born in 1991. An assignment at Beale Air Force base brought the family to California, where Kim integrated into her new community—school, church, sports, friends. She worked as an accountant for Robertson, Woodford & Francis in Grass Valley while earning her CPA license. The Zwick family lived in Lake Wildwood for several years before moving to Grass Valley in 1999.

The new millennium brought professional and personal change for Kim. In 2002, she founded Full Circle Financial and married Andy Bernadett. Kim and Andy’s new blended family included Tyler and Jordan, and the three Bernadett kids, Lauren, Alex and Drew. She continued her love of volleyball, playing in Grass Valley’s adult league, and learned to play the drums. Kim loved classic rock and attended more than 75 concerts. Her favorite band was Pink Floyd, and she loved Led Zepplin, Rush and Sting. She was a guest DJ twice for Sacramento’s classic rock station, The Eagle.

Kim loved family weekends at their Johnsville cabin, trips back east to visit her family, and vacations in Kauai. From 2011 to 2022, Kim and Andy rode their tandem bike on several Go-See-Do adventures. They rode thousands of miles; from the California coast to the Maryland seashore, up the Sierra Cascade route and the Continental Divide route, and down the west coast from Canada to Mexico, and the east coast from Canada to Key West.

Kim served the community through involvement with Music in the Mountains, Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation, Grass Valley Rotary, and her Christian Science church. During the pandemic, Kim and Andy ordered regular weekly dinners from Emily’s Catering and delivered them to housebound community members.

Kim is survived by her husband, Andy Bernadett, her kids Tyler (Amy) and Jordan, and step kids, Lauren (Matt), Alex (Kristin) and Drew (Kaylie); and by her brother Jeff Tyrrell and nieces Mia and Sofia, sister Tamara Mlynarczyk and husband Matt, and granddaughters, Hayden and Hadley Bernadett. She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

The family is grateful to her friends, and to Hospice and the caregivers who took care of Kim over the last few years and few days. Kim’s life will be celebrated by family and friends at Hooper & Weaver Mortuary in Nevada City on Saturday, November 9, at 2pm. A Reception will follow.
