Mary B. Putnam (nee Mary Frances Bryars) passed away November 12, 2024, nine days short of her 102nd birthday in Grass Valley. She was the daughter of Luther M. and Eva Allen Bryars born in Hickman County, Kentucky. She was of the Protestant faith. At her request, there will be no services and her cremated remains will be interred beside those of her husband, Harry M. Putnam in Sierra View Memorial Park Cemetery in Marysville, California.

She is survived by her sons, Merrill A. Putnam of Grass Valley, and Michael Putnam’s wife, Krista of Grass Valley, a grandson, stepson, and wife Jennifer, and their children Austin and Makena. She’s preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

She served in the United States Army in World War II where she was assigned to the Pentagon as a secretary in the War Department General Staff with a rank of Tech. Sgt. After the war she worked as a secretary in federal and California state government offices and in later years became a Real Estate Broker with Empire Realty in Grass Valley, CA before retiring in 1978.
